Peter Kuria Githinji

Peter Kuria has over 20 years’ experience in ecosystems analysis, development design, projects and programmes development. He has also worked extensively on innovations and incubation support for enterprises, students and SMEs.  He has designed, managed, lead programs and projects focused sustainable natural resources use and SMEs integration into global food systems and on renewable energy. Has been an innovator on technology commercialisation especially on biomass clean cooking stoves (gasification), biogas, wind and solar energy.

He was a lead in the design of large scale energy efficiency housing project (UN- HABITAT /HAMK/ Strathmore University ). Has been involved in developing of marketing and communications strategy for commercialisation of research results with private sector. Peter has also worked on different research programs on innovation ecosystems  for business incubation at Aalto University (Finland), HAMK (Finland), and Futures Research Centre (University of Turku). He has also been a lead designer on open Innovation approaches and business support systems at Shalin Finland where he is the founder and director. He has participated in various country level programs – including the AFDB Design of ENABLE in Ghana, Mali and Uganda. Peter has extensive experience in mapping of capacity needs and in the development of capacity building response strategies, from a very localised level to governmental and continental level. He has wide interest in digital delivery methodologies and is founder and director of Helsinki African Film Festival (HAFF).
